Data protection

Information is a valuable commodity that needs to be protected. We are aware of our responsibility, and do everything we can to protect your personal and company data from misuse.

Data protection

Financially sound business depend on customers who pay their bills. The aim of OFWI as a quality business information service is not to name and shame honourable businesses and individuals, but to protect companies from customers who are unable to pay, or who could even be disreputable. In the end, this will benefit all consumers, in that they will not have to share the burden of paying for so many bad debts.

When we handle information, we adhere strictly to the guidelines of the data protection law. For example, the information relevant to solvency is only used for the legally-permitted purpose of the work of a business information service. Our databases are registered with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). We collect the data from multiple sources (click here for more information on our data suppliers).

The retrieval and use of solvency-relevant information from OFWI is only permitted to registered customers. It may only be undertaken in respect of a credit-worthiness check and for the personal use of the recipient, who must also have a valid interest in obtaining such information.

Further information on the subject of data protection is available from the website of the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC):
